Henry Smith MP has attended an event in Parliament with Bosom Buddies UK, a charity focusing on raising awareness of breast cancer in women and men.
Henry said:
“I want to pay tribute to the fantastic work with that Bosom Buddies UK do. The Buddies, who have all beaten breast cancer themselves, provide support to people diagnosed with the disease. They are also on hand to assist friends and family members who might need support.
“Last month, the Government confirmed that the Cancer Drugs Fund in England will receive an additional £160 million. This now means that the amount committed to the Fund now totals more than £1 billion.
“The Fund is confirmed until March 2016. The Department of Health will work with NHS England to find the best course of action for the Fund in the future.
“I have always been passionate about better cancer support and improved awareness. With my mother dying of cancer two years ago my support has only been re-enforced. I was proud a few years ago to open the new Digital Mammography Unit at Crawley Hospital, however I know that there is absolutely no room for complacency.”
