Henry Smith MP has been thanked by Clive Selley, Chief Executive of Openreach, the UK’s largest broadband infrastructure provider, for his help in highlighting local recruitment opportunities.
Openreach’s recruitment drive will see them hire 3,500 new engineers nationwide to help upgrade, maintain and install new broadband services to homes and businesses across the country. These new engineers will strengthen the company’s existing 31,000 strong team of front-line engineers who work seven days a week to keep families and firms connected.
As well as maintaining and upgrading the UK’s world-leading digital infrastructure, the new recruits from Crawley will study for a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals. Openreach still have vacancies and are continuing their recruitment process.
Henry said;
“I’m pleased that Crawley residents have found an exciting new job with Openreach, which will see them maintain and upgrade our area’s broadband infrastructure.
“While Crawley unemployment has dropped by 60 per cent since 2010 and unemployment nationally is at its joint lowest since 1975, this is no time for complacency – opportunities such as those provided by Openreach play an important role.”
Clive Selley, Chief Executive of Openreach, said;
“Henry Smith MP did a fantastic job of making local residents aware of the employment opportunities Openreach had available.
“We are recruiting over 3,500 new engineers across the country and working with your MP means we recruited new front-line team with local knowledge. They’ll be working on behalf of Openreach to connect this community and maintain the UK’s position as a world-leading digital economy.”
