Henry Smith MP has given his backing to Macmillan Cancer Support by attending one of the charity’s Coffee Mornings in Three Bridges.

Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is taking place today with events across Crawley and around the country to increase awareness and raise funds for the charity, whose ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer.

Henry said;

“My thanks to OnSite Support in Three Bridges for inviting me to their Macmillan Coffee Morning today. I’m delighted that so many of their staff had taken the time to make and bring in cakes to help raise vital funds for Macmillan. I hadn’t realised there were so many talented bakers working there!

“It’s a great company with great cakes for a great cause!”

As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Blood Cancer, the Crawley MP recently welcomed cancer experts to Westminster as part of the Group’s inquiry into blood cancer care in the NHS.

The views of patients, clinicians, researchers and NHS staff are being sought to establish what is working well in blood cancer care and where improvements are needed.

Henry added;

“One of the issues raised in the Group’s evidence sessions on blood cancer care was the support provided by Macmillan.

“It’s important to remember the wider impact that living with cancer has on a patient, their family and wider support network. Macmillan’s work does much to help at such times and they are fully deserving of our continued backing.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Each year, people across the UK are asked to host their own Coffee Mornings, and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone £29.5 million was raised, and this year the organisation are aiming to raise even more.
