Henry Smith MP is asking people across Crawley to sign a petition calling for a fairer education funding settlement to better support local schools.
Henry said;
“Following a meeting I attended with other West Sussex MPs with the Education Secretary in September, I’m working with parliamentary colleagues from across the county organising petitions to get a better deal for Crawley pupils.
“The current funding formula which was established in the 2000s is confusing and unfair. Speaking with teachers from across our town’s schools this is clearly a concern.
“Now I’m writing to Crawley schools to ask for their support, and I’d urge anyone interested in ensuring a fairer deal for West Sussex kids to take part and sign this petition.”
The gap between the best and worst funded areas grew under the previous government. The ten best funded areas receive an average of £6,297 per pupil per year, compared with an average of £4,208 in the ten worst funded areas, including West Sussex.
In order to be presented in Parliament, petitions must be submitted on paper.
Please see the links below to download the form. Alternatively, please either email via: [email protected] or write to: Henry Smith MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA to be send a copy of the petition.
Henry will need to receive completed petitions, posted to his London office, by 13th November 2015.
