Henry Smith MP has been appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Rt Hon Greg Clark MP.

Henry said;

“I was delighted to accept an offer from the Prime Minister to become Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

“The role will essentially involve liaising with both the Department’s Ministerial team and fellow Conservative Members of Parliament, and assist the Secretary of State on departmental and parliamentary businesses where necessary. One of the first issues we will be dealing with is to ensure greater devolution across our country. Why should we let Whitehall decide when local people know best?

“This is an issue a number of people raised with me during the General Election campaign, and I look forward to playing a part in making it happen.
