Henry Smith MP has welcomed recent figures which show that the latest wages in the construction industry are £92 a week higher than they were in May 2010.
This comes as a welcome boost for the over 2,500 plumbers, joiners and builders across Crawley.
The figures show that weekly earnings went up by 4.5 per cent over the last year – nearly double the rate prices are increasing.
Henry said;
“This is welcome news, but there’s more to do. Through the modern Industrial Strategy, I want to see the next generation of highly-skilled construction workers recruited and trained.
“The construction industry makes a vital contribution to our economy, which is why we need to ensure we have the skills to deliver housing and build a country fit for the future.”
