Henry Smith, Member of Parliament for Crawley, has welcomed the latest figures showing that Conservative policies have helped 48 local families onto the housing ladder.
Henry said;
“I remember how tough it was to get that first mortgage, so I am delighted that the policies of this Government are directly helping people in our town get on the housing ladder.
“Under the previous Government, new home building fell to its lowest level since the 1920s, which is why housing shortages are most acute now.
“This is exactly why the Government began the Help to Buy scheme as part of the long-term economic plan. Since it was launched, 48 Crawley families have been able to buy their own home.
“This Government, and the previous administration at Crawley Borough Council, showed their commitment to helping people onto the housing ladder with actions and policies. The growing Kilnwood Vale development, as well as Forge Wood, our town's 14th neighbourhood, will result in thousands of affordable new homes.
“As a result, more and more local families will be able to own their first home, and enjoy the greater financial security that comes with home ownership.”
