Henry Smith MP has welcomed figures showing 240 house build starts in 2015 in Crawley, with housing starts and completions at a seven year high nationally.
Henry said;
“These figures show that reforms to the planning system are working and builders are confident in investing and building homes. It’s welcome that the country is building again with housing starts nearly double the low point of 2009.
“I’m well aware that there is more to do of course. The housing budget has been doubled to over £2 billion a year so more people can have the security that comes with a home of their own.
“In January I was pleased to welcome the Housing Minister to Crawley to see the development of our fourteenth neighbourhood, Forge Wood.”
The latest figures show that in 2015 in Crawley there were 240 starts and 220 completions of new homes.
Nationally, 400,000 new affordable home starts by are being delivered by 2020. Of these, 200,000 new Starter Homes will allow young first-time buyers to buy homes at a 20 per cent discount on the market value. A £2.3 billion fund will be made available to support the delivery of Starter Homes.
