Henry Smith MP has urged people in Crawley and beyond to Vote for Capers today.
Crawley Capers, an initiative from the Crawley Town FC Community Sports Foundation and the Autism Sussex, is bidding to win a £50,000 grant from the People’s Millions.
The phone vote runs from 9am today until midnight tonight. To vote for Capers, please call 0901 522 8202 from a landline, or 6228202 on a mobile. Up to 10 votes can be cast from each phone line.
Henry said;
“I urge people across Crawley, throughout West Sussex and from further afield to Vote for Capers. They are doing great work supporting children with autism, and the funding available through the People’s Millions will be a huge boost to their success so far.
“We can all play our part by calling 0901 522 8202 from a landline, or 6228202 on a mobile, to Vote for Capers today!”
Henry spoke in the House of Commons last week to hail the work of Crawley Capers. Their activities have a focus on football, but also see the children take part in arts and crafts activities, in the pod overlooking the pitch at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.
The two-hour sessions encourage participation from autistic children and family members, to help develop social skills and positive play within a family group.
These ‘Caper’ sessions have seen children with autism blossom alongside their peers, and it has also helped behaviour, community integration, as well as learning and listening skills.
