Henry Smith, Member of Parliament for Crawley, has spoken about the importance of commemorating the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
Henry said;
“On Friday 8th May, we saw both the results of the General Election, and the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
“The two events are linked, as without the sacrifice of those in the Second World War, we would not have the free elections we enjoy today. This fact is something I have thought about many times when in the House of Commons.
"I was honoured and found it very appropriate that my first official engagement as MP in the new Parliament was taking part in the Crawley Memorial Gardens 70th anniversary Victory in Europe service. A moving memorial it was too."
