It shows how the Government will continue to cut the deficit. It prioritises investment in infrastructure to equip Great Britain to compete in the global race, and it ensures fairness for people who work hard and want to get on by further reforming welfare and capping welfare spending.
Henry commented:
“Great Britain’s moving from rescue to recovery, and today’s Spending Round sets out the latest action to secure that recovery.
“In particular I’m delighted that the Chancellor has today announced that the council tax freeze, which this Government introduced in 2010, will be extended up until 2015. Given that council tax more than doubled under Labour in Crawley, I’m pleased that the action taken by this Government will have saved families on average £600 from their council bills over the course of this parliament.
“In addition, I welcome the allocation of £3 billion in funding for unifying health and social care services to ensure that those who need care are not bumped about from pillar-to-post between local services.
“With more funding for apprenticeships, UK exports, flood defences, infrastructure improvement projects, intelligence services, affordable housing and military equipment; this Government is providing support for the economy where it’s most needed whilst continuing to combat the historic deficit.
“Conservatives will continue to cut the deficit and prioritise spending to deliver a stronger economy and to equip Great Britain to win in the global race. By protecting spending on schools and health, capping welfare and cutting waste in Whitehall, Conservatives are delivering for hardworking Crawley folk.”
